The Field Service – Resident Engineer will provide support, technical expertise and engineering solutions to support the metals business within the Power Conversion Power & Industry Services segment.
As the Field Service – Resident Engineer, you will:
Own the resolution of post-sales technical customer issues at customer sites with accuracy, quality, and timeliness in order to meet customer needs and business goals
Support trouble shooting of installed products at customer site including accurate and timely settlement of all warranty claims from assigned customers
Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction
Coordinate additional opportunities to serve the customer with the customer service team, parts, other FSE’s, repair services, sales, and product engineering teams
Advise the customer of recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services
Coordinate maintenance activities for the customer and planning for inspections
Provide support to engineering teams working on customer CMU’s projects
Provide support the bidding process for the customer CMU’s projects
Identify new opportunities & development of effective offerings to improve in-service equipment reliability / availability
Develop presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on system operations
Promote sales of maintenance services
Perform other related engineering tasks to facilitate proper commissioning and customer satisfaction
Provide continuous, 24 hour by 7 day a week, support in response to customer calls for service
Ensure appropriate response and service is provided to customer
Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
Support business growth opportunities and marketing campaigns
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum 5 years of experience within an engineering environment, including a minimum 2 years of experience with metal systems (automation, drives, AGC and Level 2)
Ability and willingness to travel and work overtime, as required
Ability and willingness to possess a valid driver’s license and able to obtain or possess a US Passport and TWIC card
Electronics, electrical and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills (""Hands-on approach"")
Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office, TCP / IP configuration
Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes
Prior electrical maintenance experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to read and write English
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently
Ability to prioritize, organize work and meet deadlines
Ability to set and meet aggressive targets
