Summary: Coordinates labor and equipment resources on a daily basis to meet construction schedule as provided by construction superintendent and/or project manager. Successful applicant will monitor work in progress for accuracy of line & grade, sectional thickness, quality, and general conformance with specification requirements. Responsibilities include communicating with company project managers, foreman, and owners or their representative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Maintain a safe working environment for all activities on project; continually inspects work site surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.

  • Execute daily “toolbox” safety meetings

  • Direct and train asphalt laydown crewmembers on the correct processes, construction methods, and equipment operating procedures, including maintenance.

  • Recruit, develop, train and retain workforce.

  • Schedule materials, equipment, and tools in advanced to complete assigned task based on construction schedule as provided by construction superintendent and/or project manager.

  • Facilitates communication between owner representative and project manager and/or construction superintendent.

  • Read and interpret plans for purposes of construction compliance and dispute resolution.

  • Resolve line and grade conflicts between plans and existing conditions with inspectors and/or owner.

  • Fill out HeavyJob timecards correctly with labor, equipment, and quantities

  • Review costs and productions on a daily basis


  • Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training required

  • Working knowledge of asphalt pavers, compaction equipment, and mix designs required

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Valid CDL driver’s license and clean driving history required

  • Direct responsibility for up to 10 crewmembers.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
